Paradoxically, after a period of invasion of digital graphics and multiplications of paintings, studio printmaking has managed to preserve its exceptional status. Obviously, studio printmaking is a living phenomen which responds to new trends in art, changing visual preferences, but also to the progress of technology. It evolves.
An interesting phenomenon is the appearance of large-sized prints, exceeding the habit of treating this medium as a "chamber" genre. Thus, printmaking enters a sphere where the scale of the work opens new possibilities of expression and impact.

Two galleries: STALOWA in Warsaw and MIEJSKA in Wrocław which promote, in their regular activity, mostly young painting, Have undertaken a task wich, in the first moment, seems to be highly risky since it relates to a less popular field of art. I would like to know which one of the Polish galleries promoting - with reason, as I assume - painting (not necessarily created by young artists), photography or new media: video, installation, performace, would shoulder the task of exhibiting the seemingly old-fashioned printmaking.
Yet, the youngest printmakers have a different approach to their work, more proper to painting, photography or poster. First of all, they no longer use amall size.Moste prints at the axhibition at Stalowa Gallery had the dimensions of large or medium-sized paintings. They are made in traditional techniques, being often a testimony and new combinations of the traditional ones.
